Aesthetics and functionality
Let’s take a moment to look at these two key points that we at Riverview outdoor blinds consider to be the essential building blocks of great outdoor living area transformations.
When assessing an outdoor area the first thing to consider is “ what do I want to achieve ? “ is it protection from the wind & rain , is it protection from the heat and glare ? Or is it both? These are the two most common factors that people enquire about; this is what we consider to be part 1 in the equation “Functionality”. From this information the correct product needs to be chosen by considering all options available, is it aluminium shutters or outdoor blinds? Then this product needs to matched to the correct fabric , i.e. will it be a 95% sunscreen mesh , 99% blackout sunscreen mesh , clear pvc , canvas or many of the other options available.
This is what we consider to be part 2 in the process, after we have chosen the correct product and fabric, we need to ensure that the products are going to visually integrate into your outdoor area and enhance the ambience of your outdoor living area. The types of things we consider at this point are do you want the colour scheme to blend in or do you want some contrast with the colours, this is where you have endless options, which we understand can become confusing and frustrating for some , however we are here to make it easy for you. With our extensive background in colour selection and design I can assure you we will always give the right advice, it is something I pride myself on as I enjoy seeing the end results of a well planned and thought out outdoor living area just as much as you will enjoy using it all year round.

Colour Coordination with Outdoor Blinds
A combination of carbon Black 95% eco blockout sunscreen mesh and colourbond surfmist powder coated side channels / baserails & headboxes create a stunning look to these Zipscreen outdoor blinds we installed in Hillarys.
Product Integration – Aluminium Shutters and Outdoor Blinds
On this project we used a combination of our aluminium shutters ( louvers ) & Zipscreen blinds . the house was situated in Hillarys very close to the coast , we used the aluminium shutters on the west facing area of the alfresco which was prone to heavy rain and winds & we used the Zipscreen blind on the north facing area of the alfresco. The results were stunning and we achieved rain blockout on the west side with the shutters and maintained the open feel to the alfresco with the Zipscreen blind on the north side.
Aluminium Shutters or Louvres
On this project we used our bifolding aluminium shutters . This house is situated in Scarborough on the coast with the alfresco area facing west , hence the alfresco was subjected to the harsh afternoon sun in summer & heavy winds and rain in winter. Our aluminium bifold shutters were chosen as they provided solutions for all of the above and give the customers the ability to retain an open feel to the alfresco by bifolding the shutters to the sides when they are not required. Shutter colour is pearl and as can be seen it blends in seamlessly with the alfresco area.
